This Syracuse staff had a great year to close 2016 and the expectations were high for 2017. With that said the Orange are still building and top 40 classes will not happen in a year. The 2017 class was your typical Syracuse class, but the job of this staff in a few situations was above average. I say that because of the great evaluation they did when it came to their prospects. Below are a few examples where the Orange staff’s hard work can be seen.
Chris Elmore: When the Orange offered he was a two star prospect ended as a three.
Tommy Devito: When the Orange offered he was a two star prospect ended as a three.
Zach Morton: When the Orange offered he was a two star prospect ended as a three.
Johnathan Kingsley: Syracuse was in on Kingsley before any other school and that relationship and scouting led the defensive end to Syracuse.
Ifeatu Melifonwu: Still a two star prospect, but bigger schools popped up at the end of the process thinking about stealing him from the Orange.
When you take the evaluation ability of the staff and couple that with what looks to be better on field performance good things could be on the way for the Orange.
