Jake Moreland was hired as the TE coach for Syracuse, pushing Acosta to the WR coach. He played in the NFL for two seasons and recently coached at Western Michigan as the TE coach.
Moreland played in Western Michigan with Scott Shafer and while not a "sexy" hire, he fits the mold of what Shafer is looking for. He should have good recruiting ties in Wisconsin/Michigan/Ohio areas.
Interesting to see how this plays out. IMO, Shafer is coaching for his job next season and losing McDonald to replace him with lesser known Moreland really shows the state of Syracuse and their football staffing budget.
